Agatha All Along deep dive: episode 5 part 4
(Wandavision entries: [1][2][3])
(AAA entries: ep1 [1][2][3][4] ep2 [1][2][3][4] ep3 [1][2][3] ep4 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][+1] ep5 [1][2][3][4][5] ep6 [1][2][3] ep7 [1][2][3][4][5][6] ep8 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7])
(this is a sad one, apologies in advance)
agatha just had the unimaginably traumatic experience of her mother's evil ghost possessing her body, so of course she cracks jokes. she's shaking like a leaf, but hey, coping mechanism gotta cope!
when evanora tried to execute agatha, stealing secrets or whatever was only an excuse, she was punishing her daughter for the sin of being born. whatever she says, her so called worry for these other witches is also an excuse. she's simply furious that someone has begun to think of agatha as a person rather than a monster. it's once again a selfless VS selfish paradox, evanora is always framing her actions as selfless and for the greater good, but her hatred for agatha is undeniably raw and personal. I would love to learn what evanora's life was like, who were her parents? what turned her into such a hateful mother?
(look at how angry rio already is. and alice always protecting the person closest to her by default.)
this is the ultimate humiliation for agatha, someone who has always kept her past and struggles so close to the chest. now one of her deepest traumas is laid bare for everyone to see and judge. she's always trying to come off as strong and unfeeling and formidable, but here she is, a sad little girl abused by her own mother.
btw I see you all have strong feelings about ghosts and billy's powers! lol I got so many comments. I see you, I see you! Granted I'm not actually super invested in my ghost theories, this being a made up marvel show and all, but here's what I think:
agatha says to wanda, "you have no idea how dangerous you are, you're supposed to be a myth, a being capable of spontaneous creation, and here you are, using it to make breakfast for dinner!" agatha, one of the most powerful witches ever existed, could not create food for nicky. like, the scope of wanda's powers (and billy's by extension) is the kind of scary that can reshape reality itself and truly and properly fuck up the Sacred Balance or whatever rio calls it.
when I say billy created a ghost evanora, yes it's a copy but in the same way a Star Trek transporter makes a copy, you know what I mean? whether the orignal stays behind or not, billy's evanora is the real evanora. and if you believe in souls, that gets even more complicated! did billy take evanora's soul from the afterlife and plopped her in here, or did it copy it too? and was wanda actually able to create billy's and tommy's or did she catch the wandering soul of stillborn twins?
see I don't think evanora was a ghost prior to this (again, I might be proven wrong in the future, but this is where I'm at right now). if that were the case, you know she'd been haunting agatha's ass, wouldn't have given her a moment of peace. maybe rio took extra care to send her to the afterlife, idk. now rio looks shocked and angry to see evanora, like this is a new development.
rio's voice is literally roaring with anger
like i cannot overstate how much rio hates and despises evanora for what she did to agatha
evanora zeroes in on rio, approaches. rio takes a whole step back and makes herself smaller. she's nervous. she says that ghosts are cheaters, but it goes beyond that, doesn't it? rio understands life and death, but a ghost is neither, or both. it goes beyond all her control and expertise, and for the first time since we've known her, she's at a disadvantage. ironic, isn't it, considering what happens to agatha in the finale?
agatha, who's been cowering in a corner, chooses this moment to approach. does she want to protect rio and billy and the others? or is she so desperate for an ounce of love and affection from her mother that she, coward as she is, actually wants to put herself in arm's way?
while everyone is focused on agatha, alice looks at rio. she is putting together evanora's words, agatha's terror and rio's hatred. jen is being selfish. alice, generous alice, could never be selfish
the last time agatha saw her mother she was still a kid. now she is a mother herself and the mere thought of not loving, not wanting to protect your child, of actually going out of your way to harm them? it's simply inconceivable to her.
the shock. the tears forming in her eyes. the same heartbreak she felt when she realized her mom was about to kill her at the stake. she's feeling small and wretched and unloved like only a parent can make you feel
it's the matter-of-fact tone she uses. it's worse than hatred. she despises agatha beyond hatred
there is a moment in a child's life when they see a parent clearly for the first time, their weakness and their flaws. this is especially true for an abused child, it comes a day when you realize that despite being called bad and evil and blamed for the pain happening, it was never really your fault. agatha knows what a parent's love should look like now. and this is not it.
rio visibly deflates. she is the only person in the room agatha opened up with about her mother. there is nothing she can do to spare her pain now. she has no power against evanora
alice has a blinding moment of shock, realization, pity. she knows only too well what generational pain and trauma can do to a person. but she still had a mother who loved her. agatha didn't.
jen, who used to be a healer, can no longer feel compassion. jen has had to learn to protect herself above all others. because evanora hurt agatha, and agatha hurt jen in return.
and when it's all said and done, agatha will always beg. all her power, her brains, her experiences are nothing. she regress to that girl at the stake. I can be good. please.
alice, who's always been the first to jump to everyone's defense, who always puts others before herself. she has seen agatha bare and helpless, she has seen that raw core that agatha has always hidden and, in her final moments, she's accepted agatha in her coven. it's more instinct than rationality, but alice has always been a heart over head kinda girl. if she can see the harpy, if she can see the pain, by GOD she'll do something about it.
“The Knight of Wands.” full of fire, fights bravely.
lilia's gut-wrenching scream. she knows what is happening. agatha already told her.
a succubus who hasn't fed in so long. I keep thinking, there was never anybody who loved her enough to teach her control, to seek alternative solutions to satiate her hunger. rio never could, rio cannot interfere with who lives and who dies. but could a coven together have fed her? could a big coven have donated power little by little, and kept her safe and valued and protected? nurtured her in every way? or was she always doomed from the start? was evanora right, did alice sign her death warrant the moment she chose to love agatha? I know what my answer is to all that, but what do you guys think?
and another question for you: billy casts around desperately for help, nicky answers. was nicky, or rather a shadow of nicky, created by billy too? or was the son of Death powerful enough and scared enough to reach out on his own, maybe with just a little push on billy's part?
a name was all it took for agatha to pass her trial, and look how much was needed to get it out of her. only billy's chaos could do the impossible: drag agatha's ravaged and wrecked heart to the surface. billy only wanted to help her heal, but he's a just a boy with the power to shape the universe. it took evoking ghosts and dredging up horrible trauma to make all of agatha's defenses crumble and raw-beat her into admitting her pain, into maybe, if we're lucky, starting on the road to recovery. oh, billy. you don't know how to handle things gently yet, with your big man's hands and your young, too young soul.
she stops IMMEDIATELY. she didn't know how to control her hunger, until now. the monster was human all along
by. as in, by billy, because he did it all. and also, good-bye. good-bye, mama.
oh, alice. there are no words.
and now they're no longer just numbers, just fools she conned and killed and abandoned on the road. now it's the girl with the big luminous heart, who sang the Ballad with her, who shared her same pain, the first human being in agatha's life who wanted to selflessly help her.
there is a moment, in a child's life, when they see a parent clearly for the first time.

I'm sorry, but fuck everyone who says "buddie shouldn't happen because of how their fans act/buddie happening would be rewarding fans for their behaviour and i don't want that".
Tommy stans have been sending me hate since ep3(!!), i've been called homophobic for pointing out Tommy's canonical backstory, there are multiple accounts here thinking woman shouldn't have opinions and being misogynyst towards fans. You can't point out geniune racism and fatphobia LFJ displayed and never took accountability for 'cause you're only calling it out to be a hater. They've been calling for the death of Eddie so Tommy can play father figure to Chris, but if you say Buck and Eddie co-parent then you're an idiot who doesn't understand what a coparent is.
Going by your logic Bucktommy should break up, because thats not a behaviour you should be rewarding. Or does it only apply when its threatening your half of the ship, the toxic generic white man?
(i'm soo sorry about this rant btw, i just saw too many of this take and had go get it out of myself)

Homelander & Ryan
Before episode 5, I didn't buy that revisiting his childhood trauma(s) would do anything for Homelander, and I thought the point would be to show that nothing will change BUT!! Color me surprised! and pleasantly so, bc imo Homelander has reached such a stage of not giving a fuck it's INSANE, like in the scenes when he's not with Ryan, I see him as this husk, completely empty, half heartedly talking about plans with the Seven & co, he doesn't care anymore it's terrifying, he's just going through the motions expected of him in those scenes.
With Ryan however, he's just hanging out, talking, yk, encouraging his son to indirectly slap some sense into creepy movie directors , which btw, Ironic and excellent way to show both: Ryan's awareness of the concept of a women's consent, AND Homelander's hypocrisy, which will all come to head when Ryan learns of the brutal way he was conceived. Funnily enough, this is what I imagined the dynamic of Ryan and Homelander to be before the first episodes of this season: just them hanging out, laughing at those "lesser than them". And I prefer it like this, a slow build towards it, not just going from Ryan's nervous energy facing his dad to "hahaha that was so fun *smugly sips milkshake*". THIS is better, I actually buy that these two silly idiots spent 6 months together or so, bc even the argument from ep3 isn't made into this big dramatic thing, yes it pushes Homelander into action and it upset both of them but it's also resolved in a simple way, just them talking, walking yk. I honestly think the Black Amex and Jaguar keys were sort of an apology from Homelander? Because ofc he'll never come out straight to say it lmao
and the "You're the only one whose opinion I care about"?? "For all I'm concerned you're the only one on this planet" ?? HOOOO BOY, we say it's over for Homelander every other episode. But I honestly think this is it, and it's so bad I can't even choose an option, will it be worse if Ryan turns on him, or dies?
#ryan butcher#homelander#the boys#the boys season 4 spoilers#antony starr#DADLANDER#yes yes yes yes give me more of this before Billy Butcher goes “oi kid you know 'omelanda forced himself on your mum”#and Ryan goes "oh guess I have to slap HIM now huh#good stuff good stuff#can we get to season 5 already thanks yeah bye

i’m guilty of neglecting this as writer too and loveee bucky ~mental illness~ fics but i’d love to see more people explore gale being the one breaking down/john being in the caregiver role.
Omg, nonnie, that's funny because I'm the opposite as a writer 😅😩 Most of my fics are about John taking care of Gale (be it emotional or physical hurt/comfort, I just can't stop hurting Gale somehow) and as a result I find that I'm neglecting Bucky's own trauma a bit 😭 I'm trying to work on that but I keep going back to Gale having a breakdown or otherwise in need of comfort and John being that safe person for him 🥹
I think one of my favorite tropes is either Gale breaking down in the Stalag bc my boy was Not Okay, he just wasn't as loud about it as John 💔 or fics set after the war, Bucky doing better slightly better in civilian life but Gale losing his only footing- taking care of his men- and thus spiraling down 🥹 Also Buck breaking down after the Regensburg mission!! One shot that stayed with me since I watched Mota is one in ep3 during that mission where Gale watches one of the men from the b17 in front of him bail out and crash on Gale's wing. The LOOK on his face, the devastation as he watches his entire squadron, his men, be slaughtered and he can do nothing about it except try to fly his wreckage of a B-17 to Algeria to save the men in his fort 😭💔 this actually gave me a fire idea for a current wip lmao but yes!!!
More Gale breaking down and John taking care of him!! I need to see usually strong, quiet Gale just break down in tears, loud sobs tearing him as the dam breaks and he lets out all the heartbreak and hurt he's been through 🥹 Make that pretty boy cry 🥹 (I swear I love Gale btw, I want him to hurt but I also really want John to give him a hug 😅)
What are some tropes/hc you'd like to see more of in Clegan fics?

can I ask, because I'm a GO book fan too and I decided ages ago I didn't care enough about the show to watch s2 - what made them so OOC? I always felt that their book personalities basically got swapped in S1 but it seems like people are even madder about this. ngl it is kind of inspiring me to write more fic with book canon dark-haired Crowley in it lol
Okay so SPOILERS FOR GOOD OMENS SEASON 2:
So first of all towards the end I couldn't take much of it anymore due to various reasons, including that somebody was kind enough to spoil the very ending (of them breaking up and that that's the ending of the show) on the 27th, so I didn't even feel like finishing the show, but I pushed myself to and therefore was half-watching it towards the end, so my memory may not be the most accurate but I can't bare to go back and rewatch it.
From the very beginning I hated that it was retconned that they knew each other as angels. The point, the THEME is that they're friends despite being on opposite sides. And it was said that Aziraphale DID remember Crowley as an angel. So did he only become friends with him because he remembered Crowley when they were friends as angels??? I hate how this changed the beautiful beginning of the book and their first meeting, and the THEME. (Oh BTW Aziraphale is also a landlord who takes rent from this poor lady although he doesn't need the money at all??? But that's beside the point)
In ep3 Aziraphale driving the Bentley was pretty cute and at one point A and C had the canon conversation in the book with where you start vs. upbringing so those are fine. But Crowley in Aziraphale's bookshop tossing all of Aziraphale's beloved books around carelessly......Crowley would never.
In ep4 it was said that Aziraphale owns a gun which I thought was very in-character XD. And that Crowley has never fired a gun.
EP6 was where all the shit went down......first of all I was making loud retching noises in my office @ the Gabriel x Beelzebub thing that came out of nowhere......and the plot goes that Gabriel and Beelzebub basically ran off together somewhere, so Metatron was like "the supreme archangel job position is open now and we want YOU, Aziraphale, to fill it. You can even make your friend Crowley an angel again" and Aziraphale accepted??????!?!?!???!?! Aziraphale's entire arc in the books and in season 1 and THE THEME is that they don't agree with their uppers anymore, he and Crowley are on the human's side, and on their own side. And suddenly, Aziraphale believes that working as a higher position in heaven is a good idea? And agreeing that turning Crowley back to an angel is better basically means that he thinks that angels are inherently better than demons, WHICH IS THE IDEA THAT THE BOOK AND SEASON 1 SPENT THE ENTIRE PLOT TO OVERTHROW???? And also I hate hate the idea that Aziraphale and Crowley must be somebody important. THE POINT is that they are nobodies, and that's what makes them great and relatable. They are NOT EVEN MAIN CHARACTERS in the book nor Season 1. In the show, Crowley also disagreed with Aziraphale's idea and they argued about it and then Crowley angrily kissed him (??) and then left and Aziraphale went to Superheaven to take the job ig. OH and Aziraphale said "I forgave you" to Crowley????? WHAT??? I've overlooked every little nitpicky thing I had about their characters in season 1, but these actions are irreversible and inexcusable. I'm done with the TV show. Nothing they do in season 3 can fix this. I'll just pretend this show never existed now.
#good omens season 2#gos2 spoilers#good omens critical#ask#Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense I'm still feeling a lot

I'm Cataloging Every Occurrence of the Piano in Malevolent in a Spreadsheet for Leitmotif Analysis. No, I'm Not Kidding.
As the title of this post reads, I've spent the last few weeks listening to every episode of Malevolent and logging every time the piano is heard (both within the story and as background score), to analyze the data for leitmotif/music based theory-crafting. I originally was planning on getting through the entire series before posting anything, but I am very quickly realizing that this is going to take me a while, and I start a new semester in two weeks, so there is a high likelihood I will not finish before I get too busy to chug through as many episodes a day as I am now. I'm on episode 16/44 and I've already logged 137 instances of piano music. I'm not even halfway done. And this is all I've been doing for the past multiple days. For this reason, I've decided to post the link to the spreadsheet before finishing.
If you're familiar with Malevolent, and just how much music is in it, you might be asking, "OP, are you utterly fucking insane?" And well, dear reader, the answer to that is probably yes, but while you might call it madness, I call it love. So, before getting into the meat of things, I wanted to explain why I even decided to do this. Spoilers ahead for Malevolent (obvious, but yeah). If you don't give a single shit about why I did this and want to get straight to the sheet, scroll to the bottom for the link.
So. About 2 weeks ago I finished my first listen-through of Malevolent. One thing about the most recent episodes struck me as very very significant: John and Arthur's "collective force" being titled as the Dies Irae.
Now, a full-bodied explanation of why I find this so important and the possible implications will come at a later date, but long story short, the Dies Irae is a very significant piece of musical literature-- it is, perhaps, the most commonly quoted leitmotif of the past 800 years, and it symbolizes death. So, understandably, the Themes of this kinda sent me down a spiral.
But the Dies Irae being mentioned in such a way also got me thinking: music is a pretty integral part of Malevolent. So, is the Dies Irae quoted anywhere in its soundtrack? I suddenly got very very excited at this prospect, particularly if it might be in Faroe's Song, because well... god that would hurt lol. I scoured the available songs on the bandcamp aaaaand... no luck (as far as I can tell). Regardless, even if the Dies Irae wasn't a part of the soundtrack, I became curious about what kind of leitmotifs were in the podcast, and what they might mean. And so, the spreadsheet was born.
I explain this in the User Guide part of the sheet (please read it before going through the rest btw), but I only track the piano parts of the podcast. The reason for this is two-fold:
First, score wise, piano is very easy for me to pick apart, and I don't see a lot of significance in the suspenseful string music for horror moments (though I don't deny there might be something to it, I simply won't be able to find it.) To me, the piano is also significantly more important than the strings because it's a notable part of the story-- Arthur and his relation to the instrument is a key part of the plot, and multiple of the piano compositions are made by him. For this reason, I found tracking the piano in the podcast worthwhile.
Second, I also don't touch any of the non-original radio tracks in the podcast (i.e. You Call It Madness (I Call It Love)) because this video by The Final Fantasmagorie already does an excellent job of covering them (please check it out!!), and I felt it would be redundant, especially considering the astronomical amount of ground I already have to cover. If these tracks start being featured as leitmotifs in the piano music then... well, I might change my mind, but so far, no dice.
If I noticed a non-piano piece of music (such as the wraith humming in Ep3) that I haven't found any analysis of whatsoever, I also noted it just so there was some record. Other than that, just piano tracks.
Explanations and disclaimers out of the way, here is the link to the spreadsheet. I might open it up to comments and/or editors at some point, but for now, it's just available to viewers. Once again, please read the disclaimer and user guide before the rest of the sheets.
Thanks for reading, I know this was a very long post, and I appreciate it if you've beared with me! Enjoy!

I saw umineko stage ep3 today!! it was amazing. the quality level is insane. I got goosebumps several times and it even managed to make me tear up... everyone's performances felt like they all know their characters so well now 🥺🙏 the lights, costumes and choreography were all perfect too
some thoughts (major umineko spoilers obviously):
young eva/evatrice's performance in particular was just. literally perfect? the way she delivered her lines, carried herself, her laugh resounding onstage and the little things she did when she wasn't the center of attention were all 100% in character. she was adorable during the ceremony where she becomes the new beatrice, introducing herself to the goats and giggling w the 7 sisters, and she was absolutely terrifying in rosa's and maria's death scene. also mad props to the costume designer(s) who did her sailor outfit that turns into the witch outfit almost instantly
everything beato's actress did had me go :] there's a lot of cute beato scenes in ep3 and she was adorable in the goofy, endearing way og beato is in the story while still being cool and fun when needed in the other scenes
and last but not least eva's actress did an amazing job too, especially during the emotional scenes of her character (when she solves the riddle, finds the gold, hideyoshi's & george's deaths). her lungs' strength is impressive lol. it's been 4 hours and I still clearly remember her screams
overall I loved the way so many of the actors and actresses would just do little things when they were on stage but not in the spotlight/not talking, like the chiesters whispering in each others bunny ears instead of their human ears/covering their bunny ears because of loud noises, or the 7 sisters just jumping around and messing w each other, maria taking her notebook out of her bag and reading it, etc. they weren't just standing doing nothing and it always felt very in character, too. there was always something new no matter which part of the stage you're looking at
rudolf's actor looked and acted like he came straight out of a yakuza movie? ik he was already like that in the previous episodes but for some reason I felt it even more this time. might be because of the fight against the sisters before he and kyrie die (which was probably my favorite action scene btw. really cool choreography). I'm not complaining though. made me like the character even more
speaking of rudolf. at some point during one of the scenes where the adults discuss beato's first letter, he just... started massaging hideyoshi's shoulders? he did that for at least a full minute before hideyoshi's actor nodded as thanks and he stopped. I have no idea if this was part of the script or if the guys just decided it on their own??
when gohda does his night check of the mansion right before his death he was actually walking in the aisles with his lantern before he got up on stage!! he got to tell a joke and do some fun stuff before being killed and never being relevant again. rip
beato asking battler to give her a new name now that evatrice inherited hers, ronove on the side of the stage writing a stupid nickname on some paper to show her only for her to get annoyed, rip the paper from his hands and stomp on it
I don't know if this was done on purpose or not, but when eva fires the shot that blinds jessica and jessica accuses her of being the culprit, pointing at some random direction since she can't see anymore, she actually pointed at shannon's corpse on the sofa behind her. it could very well just be a coincidence. but. yea
krauss drinking straight from the fucking bottle during the golden land party scene at the end and getting completely smashed
ange!! she was so cool and cute. she punched the goats. I can't wait to see her in ep4 😭
battler literally Just Standing There at the very end, when ange and beato start duking it out before the episode's over 🧍
the curtain call was super cute. everyone got together to pose for the cameras before they realised beato wasn't here so they had kinzo cry for her in the infamous kinzo way and she graced them (and us) with her presence :)
battler's actor: "so we'll need your support -and- your gold for episode 4 to happen"
cat nanjo be upon ye

I cannot give anything to Palestine. Not only am I a child who has no money I am also a child who does not have control over their bank account. Stop harassing me. And yes I say harassing because sending a ton of messages to someone who has told you they cannot help is harassment amd I will block you. This is the reason I turned off asks btw. I wish you the best and I hope you get out of this horrible situation, but I cannot help, don't waste your time on me
Hi!! You can call me Supernatural, I'm aroace and agender(please use she/they), feel free to send in any asks/questions(please I beg you-), about my au, me, my opinions, etc, and here is my Ao3 and wattpad!
This is an au/fanfic master post thingy, hope I did it right lol
Before that though, the link to the previous pinned post because I don't want to forget it....Rocky
Now!! Onto the aus!! Oldest to newest if course
Mama witch au: An au where Shelby empires smp s2, adopts child Oli, False, and Tortoise. Along the way, she meets Katherine, which opens her life to act more drama to say the least
Og post and fanfic
Brothers and sisters alike: Mystreet au where Ein and Aphmau are raised together! Plus I fix some things and add ships that are non-canon or were supposed to be canon
Og post
Hazbins Fallen au: A hazbin hotel au where Emily follows the exorcists through a portal one year, she sees the carnage and what happens to vaggie and she runs, getting stranded in hell...going back to the ally way she finds Charlie and Vaggie....things go from there
Og post (fanfic to be added)

Accidental overlord vaggie au: Vaggie rescues a sinner who accuses her of rescuing them for their souls. She offers to teach them self defense so this doesn't happen again. Og post and snippets: 1, 2, to be added
Other random aus: serith au, the polycule vision do you see it??

New to My Beautiful Man after someone on here was reblogging about it a few days ago (thanks btw). When I say new I mean I'm writing this part way through ep3.
I mostly write this to get a thought out of my head. Hira has one of the weirdest sexual codings I've seen in years. His hero worship/ lust/ stalking at the bare minimum attraction to Kiyoi has nothing to do with gender. Yes, he thinks Kiyoi is beautiful, and he is, but he doesn't even see his attitude or behaviours. He's kinda coded as a grey-ace but in a way that so few write. As a trope normally it's a way to justify non-wandering eyes in a couple but Hira means it. At this point, he is not attracted to male or female only Kiyoi
As a random aside I've already read a post I want to recommend by @respectthepetty My Beautiful (Colorful) Man despite the spoilers, my fault for playing in tumblr tags, it has made me respect and pay attention to the costuming in a way that I haven't for a show in years.

The Neighborhood Watch, S3 ep3: Who Is She?
[Summary: Markus hangs out with their sister while Song and Louis head back to the casino only to make a discovery. John meets up with Clara and gets caught up in romance, and we learn new things about Shelby.] (this one feels super long btw! It's very detailed bc im insane over the whole thing Oops) @gr3y-plays-ttrpgs
The rest of the Main Cast approaches Marku's house; they open the door, and it smells like weed and Chinese food. Markus lights some incense for Louis (he Does Not like the smell of weed), and a voice calls out from the hall- Markus introduces the owner of the voice as Analetta, their sister who's going to to school in Japan but stopped by to say hello.
We finally get a description for Analetta: She's very plain-looking, with long straight hair and bangs, neutral clothes, etc- a pink hair clip is the most colorful thing on her.
She greets the Main Cast, shaking hands with the newcomers, but her gaze is stuck on Louis. She swears she's seen him before- he looks so familiar, but she can't remember where she's seen him. Louis is confused because they have met before, and comments it's merely a trick of the trade.
Markus complains about the couple who's doing this week-long tour thing for their bug exhibit, but hey at least they'll get money for it. They thank the rest of the Cast for coming over to meet Analetta; Family should meet friends, and Ana's the only family Markus has got. She's emotional over the fact her sibling has friends, finally.
Markus introduces the Cast to her, and I'm mildly offended on John's behalf that his hair was compared to ramen. Meanwhile, Analetta wonders if Markus has mentioned Shelby before- they deny it. Nope, not at all. They've literally never talked about her what do you mean.
Song and Louis mention they should get back home- they've got, uh, cooking lessons. Analette mentions she'd like to try some of the food they'll make, and the others chime in- Louis is internally panicking because they are not doing any actual cooking tonight, but Song remedies this by saying hey, how about Monday instead? She'd also like to use her new kitchen, since her house finally got rebuilt about the Gnome Incident.
There's a knock at the door- Gerald, the guard sent by Song's father to discreetly watch over her, is at the door asking for a cup of sugar with a very bad attempt at an American accent. Markus gives some to him, shenanigans ensue (i was afk </3, but at one point Louis, detecting Gerald's actual accent, spoke French to the man, and Gerald tried So Hard to pretend he didn't know that language) and Markus ends up slamming the door in his face. Song apologizes about the whole thing; her dad is overprotective. She says she'll talk to her dad about possibly lightening the security around her, since she can take care of herself/she's safe around the rest of the Main Cast.
Analetta mentions she ordered more food, but Song and Louis start to head out. Before the couple leaves, though, they take note of what the others like; Markus, with a cabinet full of instant ramen, lies and says Italian- Louis is hyped over the idea of making pasta from scratch. Song puts $50 somewhere Markus can find it later to pay them back for the sugar (50 bucks?? yo???), and the couple heads off.
Shelby notes that John should be heading to that thing he needed to go to; Does he need a ride? John says he'll be fine walking, and he'll let Shelby knows how it goes- he'll try to be safe! And so he starts the almost-hour-long walk, ruminating over everything that could possibly go wrong with it.
---
Shelby heads off to put on some more casual clothes, since she's still all dressed up from the casino- she'll be back in a moment! As she leaves, Analetta is adamant Markus has mentioned her before. She teases Markus about her, while they deny having ever talked about Shelby, until:
["my bugs are very good at getting rid of bodies," Markus states. It's a threat, but in the typical joking manner one has for a sibling. "If you kill me," Analetta responds, "My body will rise up and annoy you forever." "hm nevermind, i don't want that."]
Kyle, the only Doordash guy in town, finally arrives with the food Analetta ordered. Markus gives him a 40$ tip, and assures Kyle they'll be able to eat all of it; some people are coming over anyway.
Shelby returns, no longer in a dress but in a baggy sweatshirt, and she's hyped over the pizza and tacos they've got- there were only alcoholic drinks at the casino. Shelby tries to pay Markus back.
["How much do I owe you for this?" "nothing. you're a friend." "Markus, I can pay you back. I have money." "so do i!"]
Shelby asks how the bug tours are going- horrible, answers Markus. They dislike the fame but they will keep taking people's money. They offer her a joint, and upon her request they go to make brownies instead.
----
John's been fidgeting with his hands, and his phone starts to lag a little bit as he gets closer to the casino. Eventually he spots Clara leaving the building. Oh god, here we go.
Clara gives John that white person smile as she approaches (fuck). They have a short conversation, agreeing to go to the coffee shop in town since the casino is a bit... Well, it's a lot. Clara offers to drive to the cafe, leading him to a motorcycle. John is impressed! She tells him she decided to use her first paycheck to buy her dream vehicle, and tosses him a spare helmet.
["You're going to have to hold on," She tells him as he gets on. "To what?" "To me," She says. "So you don't fall off." "...oh!" Carefully, he does so, trying to be gentle with his claws.]
---
[The bike pulls into the parking lot of the shop; Grounded In Nature, the cat cafe that's also the only coffee shop in town. "You can let go now, you know." "Ah- sorry."]
As the two of them enter, some of the cats run away from them- John apologizes like it's his fault (it is). They sit down, place their orders, and after talking over each other at first, Clara tries again: It was a blur last time she saw him (she was in the forest??), and then there was a lot going on, she got a new job and didn't know how to contact him, and hadn't seen him in town.
Their drinks are brought over- the only employee had spelled their names wrong. A fluffy white cat, brave to approach them, sits next to Clara.
John apologizes for not seeing or contacting her- he doesn't say how he was nervous she'd see he looked different from last she saw him- and they begin to talk a bit more; Clara jokes about her job, John says he loves to listen to people talk about their interests, etc.
And John swears that the cat near her rolls its eyes, like it's tired of how awkward their chat is, and then it jumps up onto the table and knocks over Clara's drink!!! Hey now! >:-0
John stands up, apologizing like it's his fault the cat did that, grabbing a bunch of napkins for her and being like hey?? are you okay??? She says she's okay, it was iced coffee so it didn't hurt, and she needed to change out of her work uniform anyway. Clara looks like she's struggling to say something else, and her gaze locks onto John's.
[Her eyebrows furrow slightly. "...Have your eyes always been that color?"
He looks away.]
She eventually asks if he and Shelby are dating- he stammers out a refusal, saying that while he cares very much about Shelby, he's not romantically interested in her. He leaves out how important she is to him, worrying that would hurt Clara's feelings.
["Okay, got it." Clara takes a breath, and meets his gaze.
"You know I like you, right?"]
There's about three seconds as John's brain catches up with what she said. There's a bit of war in his head- he's thrilled she likes him, but at the same time... there's no way, right? (Oh, the joys of low self-esteem)
[There's a small smile- a mix of disbelief and joy. "...You like me?"]
Clara apologizes for assuming that he and Shelby were together and for assuming he would know she liked him, and John apologizes for being oblivious, saying that no one's ever been interested in him before like this; he doesn't quite know what to do, but he can try this out.
They exchange numbers, and Clara offers him a ride home.
----
Song and Louis enter Lestat's home, and he greets them with a glass of what might be red wine, and a phone to show them all the social media posts people made about them at the casino; it's clear he wants to go there with them. Song and Louis jokingly make fun of Lestat's age and his language about social media apps.
["Lestat," Song asks, "How old are you anyway?" "Old enough," He turns around. "But we're not here to recount tales of the French Revolution."]
They start to get ready, with Song and Louis picking out new suits and dresses for the night.
Song looks out the window, because she hears an engine- and sees John, getting off a bike with a woman! Clara and John hug, and John is made aware of how easy it would be to hurt her in this moment- his small growl is hidden by the engine of her bike.
They pull away, and she drives off with a goodbye. John stands for a moment, reeling, until he sees Sammy and Heath pull up into their driveway- hey, Heath was taken away by the guards, remember? what's up?
So John goes up to greet the couple, asking what happened- Heath tells him that, well, it got loud in the casino, so Sammy had started using ASL to talk to him. The guards thought it was code or something relating to cheating at the casino games, Heath is saying, so they took him away just to look over the security footage. Other than that, they did pretty good at the casino and won some cash, as well as some compensation for the misunderstanding. They decided to go home right after.
John doesn't believe that because I don't, this casino is sketchy as hell, so he rolls to Investigate a Mystery and infers that Sammy seemed to have been in there way longer than it would've taken to just review footage. Suspicious but not knowing where to go from there, he bids them goodnight and heads over to Markus's.
["do you want a joint?" Markus holds one out to him. "No, thank you," John says as he enters. "I'm fine." Weed wouldn't be good for him, given his tendencies. They shrug, turning away. "okay, that's fine. don't eat the brownies, by the way; they've got weed in them." John slowly puts the brownie in his hand back onto the tray.]
The four of them play board games and chat; Analetta shares embarrassing stories about Markus (though she's still confused over how she can't remember the details of them leaving), and Shelby shares some about her and John, mentioning that they met when she hit him with her car.
["How did you manage to do that?" Markus asks. "It was dark!" She said. "I was in a hurry, and he just ran out into the road!"]
John asks why she had been it a hurry that night- this is new to him. It was an unspoken rule between them that they never talked about their pasts, but...
She explains that she's not originally from Greenville; she's from somewhere up East, but she had to get away, so she got in her car and drove as far as she could until she felt it was good enough to stop.
["And then when I hit John, I thought 'Oh, surely this can't get any worse!'"]
John is sympathetic, and Markus offers support. Shelby says she doesn't need to worry about that anymore- and besides, she's got John! He's tough! He jokingly(?) threatens to fight anyone who hurts her, and she lightly punches him in the arm in response.
Markus makes a comment that maybe if they get a divers license, that's how they can get more friends. John responds that maybe Not having one would increase their chances.
Eventually, Markus and Analetta head off to bed, and John and Shelby start their short walk back home.
["That was fun," Shelby said, walking ahead of John, "But I think I'm just gonna head to bed once we get inside." John hummed, a tiny smile at his lips. "So do you want me to tell you the news tomorrow morning, then...?" Shelby spun around to face him. "No no," she said, walking backwards with a grin. "You can't do that- you're telling me now."]
He reminds her of Clara, his old coworker, and that she confessed that she liked him; They might go on a date.
[Shelby pauses from unlocking the door. "That's..." She turns to him. "John, that's great!" "I know, right!"]
The two of them enter the house as John expresses his amazement at this; he never thought that anyone would ever ask him out?? He asks Shelby for advice- because she's gone on dates before, right?
[She winces. "Yeah, uh- I don't really do the whole dating thing anymore. I haven't had much luck with that."]
She suggests the dinner Song and Louis are planning on Monday- unless John wants a private date, something more intimate? But he thinks back to the hug earlier, and says the dinner would be a better idea. He can call them tomorrow and ask if he can bring a plus-one.
Shelby mentions she's going to go to bed. As she gets up from the couch, she puts a hand on his arm. She tells him she's glad he's happy, and heads off to her room.
Markus goes to get water, but the thing is that their window can actually look directly into the window to Shelby's room; They see her close the door and fall onto her bed, sobbing. They pull out their phone and call her. Shelby stops crying to answer it, and they ask if she's okay. She says she'll be fine.
["You know I'm only a phone call away," Markus offers. They watch as she reaches for a plushie and hugs it tight. "...Thanks." She says nothing else.]
---
Meanwhile, the Trio (comprising of Louis, Song, and Lestat) heads back to the casino, dressed in fabulous outfits. Lestat had fed earlier, and due to the life running through him he's able to show up in photos for a bit. They enjoy themselves, and are invited up to the second floor of the casino. It's grand, full of upper class ambience and elegant people at the tables- the Trio doesn't recognize anyone, but heads over to play one of the card games. There's a well-dressed man making his way to each group of people, chatting before moving on to then next group. Finally, he reaches these three and introduces himself as Mr. Grant, one of the people who helps run the Vault Casino. They compliment it, saying it's lovely.
Then Mr. Grant leans forward, asking Ms. Song O'Sullivan if he can speak to her privately- her eyes immediately go up to the security cameras (They're not looking at her). Louis gets bad vibes from this question and asks why can't all of them be there? Grant says its of a private and serious manner. Louis continues to object, and the man says it's about their.. extracurricular activities. (monster hunting?)
Song sends her boyfriends a telepathic message, telling them that if she's not back in five minutes they can raze this casino to the ground. They let her go; Louis starts a timer on his phone. Mr Grant leads her to the elevator, and they start to head up to the third floor- that's normally off-limits, isnt it?
A telepathic message from Song: "Third floor."
Two security guards approach Lestat and Louis, asking them to please come with them. Louis objects and Lestat tries to be civil, but the guards are firm. Lestat also has telepathy, as he had used it last season, and he sends Louis a message: He's trying real hard to not tear these guards apart, as he's working on being a better person, so it would be in both their best interests to comply. Besides, they've worked together before, he and Louis- they can fight their way out later if needed.
The vampire and Southern gentleman finally comply, and are lead to the elevator- but unlike Song, they start going down. Basement One.
Louis mentions they must be getting special treatment, then, if they're heading to an off-limits area! The security guards make a comment implying they've been bringing the supernatural folk (though they didn't quite use that phrasing, it was heavily implied) in town down to the basements- just for a little chat, is all.
["Well," said Louis, "If you know of those kinds of folk, then you surely know what me and my partner here are capable of?"]
Meanwhile, Song is on the third floor.
It's dark, with the only light source coming from below them; It's built almost like a balcony, with railings and windows that reveal the lower levels of the casino and everyone milling down below. The ceilings must be two-way mirrors.
There's a flick of a lighter from the far side of the room, and a dim glow as a cigarette is lit up. The lamps follow its lead, turning on and lighting up the place. There's a woman on the far end, holding a long cigarette holder. She's got the beauty of an old movie star, with an elegant red dress, a feathered boa, and long black gloves.
"What's wrong, darling?" She asks Song. Their eyes are the same color; a deep blood red.
"...No hug for your mother?"
Notes/Commentary:
SO MUCH HAPPENED THIS SESSION?? I LOVE IT HERE Also cheer for me, this one was almost entirely off memory. I'm so cool lmao
Why doesn't Analetta remember Louis? The way the DM played it seemed to be supernatural in nature... is it because Louis made a deal with the Devil? or is there something else to it?
Sorry, listen, i know i bring it up every time but Song's house getting blown up by gnomes is so wild to me. I love how that's a canonical thing.
Song with the sugar, pretty much:
"Would Shelby smoke weed?" "So fun fact I keep a list of everything we've ever learned about Shelby because I'm Normal about her-"
Shut up i lost it when Kyle finally showed up. He's only been mentioned and never shown, I feel like i met a celebrity /hj
I started YELLING at the white person smile comment i'm !!!!! OUGH i Knew it wouldve been awkward!!!
Those cats are so sentient. I'm calling it. Also do you think Jewel the employee mispells the customer names so they won't be taken by the fae who runs the cafe?? oh shit what if the cats were people-
During the cafe scene Markus's player sent a message in the chat like "Two autistic people flirting. beautiful <3"
I was so in-character!! /pos Not me going into my pockets like i had a flip phone in there aughgh
John never saying he liked Clara back!!! Only that he would like to try out dating!! bc thats what people do!!!! aaaa!!!!
There's some memory manipulation going on in that casino.
John and the hug was wild bc?? The dm was over here describing how she was small and I was all "well. might as well roll for hunger" and you would Not believe how badly I fucked that up lmao. I was going to spend a luck point; since the dm wasn't expecting me to roll for his hunger, though, he let me off the hook. Thanks DM <3
The "markus getting a car to make friends joke" was originally an ooc bit from earlier and then we just??? Acted it out? Love it here
SHUT THE UFKC UP IM GOING TO THROW MY CHAIR. ROOMMATE DUO ALWAYS HAD ANSGT POTENTIAL AND NOW ITS WORSE.
SHE LIKES HIM???? IM IN A LOVE TRIANGLE-
And Louis's player called it too!!! Like right before the scene that revealed Shelby likes John!!! Aaa!!! [Head in hands]
Also sorry that was Such a shock to me. I genuinely thought she was a lesbian
SONG'S MOTHER!?!?!?
That's why Greyson was doing this job thats why he said it was personal!! THATS HIS WIFE RUNNING THE PLACE!!! I thought she was dead!!!!!
We IMMEDIATELY ran to make theories about Song's mom: is she a demon? Is Song a pact child?? What if her mom's a dragon! Song has a fang earring doesn't she? Is the fact her mom's supernatural why she's so good at magic? What's her mother doing gathering all the supernatural folk anyway? Shaking my computer I WANT ASNWERS /lh
Hey. Hey DM. Is Emmett the AI man okay?? Why did you bring up the fact we havent heard from him in a while in the same breath as mentioning the casino's effect on our phones. SIR??? IS HE OKAY???

episode 4 post, starting with my current theory
ep1 ep2 ep3
lambda so kindly revealed to us and reminded beato that she gave beato her power, beato is not a real witch. interesting, given that beato claims to be a thousand years old but we'll ignore that for now. lambda insists that beato has to keep battler in this game for as long as possible or else, because she wants to keep bern trapped for as long as possible, so we've got a new goal post popping in yet again. beato not only wants to defeat battler and make him admit she's a witch, but now she has to wear him down more slowly too and there's even more pressure on the fact that he must not ever win.
this is further complicated by ange coming in with the intent to solve the case and save the family on rokkenjima as fast as possible and not fuck around. its funny timing considering the last game was the first one where battler was actually playing in a way where he could bring himself to blame family members and therefore... actually get somewhere with it. feels a little mean to him to come around the instant he's got his shit together and be like "you suck at this. move out of the way" but he took it well and honestly, he's not in any rush like she is
because in conflict with all of this is the fact that beato and battler are absolutely both losing the plot. they've both become way more invested in the other person's emotions and wellbeing in a very visible way. battler came to her rescue despite being mad at her and beato cheerfully burst into the room to try and lift the mood when she was lied to that battler was in a bad way. (chefs kiss to that btw)
so this is all the observation, what's the theory? there is a chance that... since beato is still pushing hard for battler to affirm she's a witch, that doing that may somehow give her real power. at this point I'm pretty squarely on the magic is real side, bern and lambda are pretty firmly and obviously real witches with actual power. bern declaring ange a witch (especially after ange apparently trained herself as one) and bringing her over has all but completely confirmed that for me. however, the argument that we've been having isn't really "is magic real"... it's "is beatrice a witch", and given that her powers apparently aren't her own, it seems that she's actually not. the ritual exists as a way to give beato real powers... potentially. this may not even be true, but she does get stronger each time it's successful so there could be something to that.
my additional source for this theory is the red truth that we couldn't hear used against evatrice. perhaps she wasn't saying that witches and magic weren't real for any reason, but that evatrice's powers weren't real or her own. "you couldn't do any of that magic stuff because you don't actually have powers, I did all of that" or something. after all, in the end of their fight before battler showed up, the servants were all saying that beato was the true golden witch in a pretty confusing matter. the only thing that makes it hard for me to believe beato was so deep into it that every single thing was an act is the fact that we've been shown very clearly that she can't lie well. even if she didn't say so herself (which she has), the magnificent facial expression swapping she does makes it particularly blatant. that makes it hard to say exactly how much of the last arc was trickery vs how much she was genuinely struggling. my view of it is that she did in fact hand over her borrowed powers, not expecting it to break quite so bad, and when she got through to the end on pure dumb luck, she flipped the script to make it look like she didn't just barely scrape through.
in short... this is lambda's game. we're just playing it
now for my next question: does virgilia actually exist or what
#m.txt#umineko liveblog#posting this so shortly after the last part of ep 3 bc i had that all written last night but didnt hit post

Obikin-fan!you made me question my whole view of their dynamic which... I've changed my mind. Seeing them as brothers is awesome, my desperate-for-brotherhood-6yo self totally bought into obi-wan's "you were like a brother to me" and fed onto this for years. But then you barged in with your romantic!obikin and I had to sit with my thoughts for a second cause my first reaction was "but Obi-Wan is too old for Anakin!!! he is an adult when he meets ani who isn't even a teen and..." and Padme is the same age as Obi-Wan and that never bothered me??? But then it's ✨️ canonical ✨️ and ✨️ straight ✨️ so it seems more acceptable? Nah I'm not buying this anymore, which means that I have no more arguments against the ship and ughhh but also yay... It's not that I'm diving right into it at the moment but damn I might
I can hear you chanting "one of us" as I'm typing this btw
One of us one of us one of us one of us
To be fair Obikin have an age difference of 16 years and Anidala have an age difference of 5 years so it's not exactly the same age range, and Padmé didn't contribute to raising him. Personally the way they interact once Anakin is older kind of makes me kind of like see past it (+ I really don't care about age gaps in fiction) but it's totally valid and fair to see it as purely platonic. The only thing that isn't valid is calling someone a pedophile and/or incestuous over characters who don't exist, but you're free to have your own vision of said characters and even think it's really kinda weird that some people are into them as romantic partners (and also personally I dislike people who downplay the importance of their relationship in the narrative and to each other)
The way I see it, the war changes their dynamic a lot: in ep2 Obi-Wan is responsible for Anakin, he's his master, and you can tell they're kind of struggling there because Anakin doesn't want to do what Obi-Wan says and Obi-Wan is kind of tired of his shit. That would make a relationship pretty iffy morally (not that it can't be hot honestly), but after Geonosis Anakin is knighted, he's not Obi-Wan's responsibility, and they have three years of fighting side by side as equals. That's a much better start for a romance, because they're on equal footing, and they spend a lot of time together doing ambiguously romantic things (I won't say "friends don't do that" because we know that's bullshit but like, they act in ways that can easily be interpreted as romantic, or that would generally be read as romantic without context).
The "you're like a father to me"/"you were my brother" lines I don't discard because they're really interesting but I see the romantic aspect of their relationship as kind of like - listen these two have really untangled lives! Obi-Wan was Anakin's kind of father figure but also his mentor, and Anakin was Obi-Wan's responsibility and his apprentice but also his brother, that's a lot of complex roles and a lot of facets to a relationship that we know is close - they fly in sync at the start of ep3, Obi-Wan knows what to say to get Anakin to cheer up in the elevator in ep2, they know each other, they mean a lot to each other, Anakin clearly doesn't care about having normal healthy relationships and Obi-Wan loves him more than anything he could ever do wrong (that's a quote from Andor but there's a reason it gets reused a lot for this ship), why not ALSO make them fuck & kiss y'know?
That said you don't have to jump on the ship immediately or at all! Personally I find them super compelling (and also extremely canonical if you look at all the stuff they share) but SW is so big that there's always something that's perfect for you, whatever that is. Anyway. I like them a normal amount.
#i got carried away but they're so fun and cool........#i have to tag this for warning purposes but it's going to show up in the main tag 😔😔#star wars#obikin#wow i have an asks tag now#fandom nerdery

I'm so obsessed with Midnight Mass, somehow we've only been watching an episode a day, and today finished ep3. But I cannot stop thinking about it so I'm just rewatching the first episode right now, it's so much fun
It's great when you find a new fiction hyperfixation to sink your teeth into, I haven't had this in a while!
Usually I don't get into tv shows, I'll rewatch things but probably the last new series I watched was one of Mike Flanagan's earlier things like 3 years ago. Something about his stuff just works well for me. I've not found another horror series maker I've enjoyed (would love recommendations btw bc I'm so hesitant to start series, it's a commitment y'know)
But for now I'm gonna rewatch the first three eps probably, or as much as I can until we watch ep4 tomorrow >:)
#adhd#is weird bc i have been busy for a few days. but having an episode a night to look forward to has helped#and we'd watched The Fall of the house of Ushsr#Usher#my first time. a few weeks ago#and then i suggested we watch The Haunting of Bly Manor. my first rewatch#then m told me Midnight Club got cancelled so it's disappointing to watch it. and i told m that Hill House hits too close to home about our#recent bereavement and she didn't like the sound of it. so naturally we're watching Midnight Mass#man it's nice to have a new hyperfixation! I've just been revisiting old ones since my last one in .... June??#idk#eh#hard to define a hyperfixation to other people. but THIS certainly is one
